Big Crowd Turns Out For Public Hearing – Support Flows In

About 100 people – the vast majority being Augustalee supporters – turned out for a public “drop in”
4-7 p.m. April 8 at Cornelius Town Hall.
Representatives of the Augustalee team were on hand to explain plans, maps and other details, and answer questions from the many visitors. Thanks to all who came and showed support for the project! |

Many others who could not attend have requested the official project support form, which becomes a part of the permanent record of public support for this project. This is so important, we ask you if you have not signed up already at the meeting or by receiving a form, to download one now – click here for the PDF – and sign it in support of all 3 transportation and environmental initiatives. Signed forms can be mailed to the address on the form or faxed to 704-335-5882. They must be received no later than April 22, 2009.
“It was great to have such a strong turn-out and show of enthusiasm by the community at this event,” said Josh Rector, Senior Vice President of Cornelius Bromont, the developers of Augustalee. “Everybody’s excited about the project and all the transportation, lifestyle, and economic benefits it will bring to the Cornelius – Lake Norman region. We appreciate everyone taking the time to sign the support forms to help us gain the essential approvals from government agencies.
“We also very much appreciate the continuing support,” Rector added. "Our next public meeting is the TCC (Transportation Coordinating Committee) meeting on the morning of the April 23 at the Mecklenburg County Government Center on East Fourth Street. We’ll be letting you know how that meeting turns out.”

Whiting-Turner Celebrates 100th Anniversary
The Augustalee Team extends hearty congratulations to our construction management company, Whiting-Turner, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Whiting-Turner is one of the nation’s largest privately owned general contractors, and they got that way by providing outstanding service and value.
Not many companies in the world could simultaneously manage the construction of a huge mixed-use project like Augustalee while widening an interstate and a U.S. highway, building a new interchange, and other major transportation improvements. We are proud to have Whiting-Turner on our team and wish them well in their next 100 years! |
