Cornelius Bromont Opening Charlotte Office
August 2008 - Cornelius Bromont, LLC, developers of Augustalee, have signed a lease for their new regional office at 1900 South Blvd., Suite 250, in Charlotte’s SouthEnd, and plan to move in as soon as the space is finished with some minor modification and fresh paint. The Tompkins Toolworx building is a Charlotte Mecklenburg Historic Site.
“This location is very convenient to our team, with the majority of our Design Team’s architects, engineers and consultants within walking distance or a short train ride,” said Josh Rector, Senior Vice President. “It has space for a very large conference room which we will make good use of.”
Built in 1904, the D. A. Tompkins Co. building has a brass plaque beside the front door that is basically an advertisement for the company's capabilities. It manufactured and repaired textile machinery, made "all kinds of machinery repairs," made patterns and castings, and cut gears.
Cornelius Bromont will also hire an administrative assistant to help manage the office and is currently conducting interviews for the position. Interested applicants can use the website feedback form at http://augustalee.com/feedback.html.
“As soon as the first new office building is completed as part of Phase 0 (zero) on the Statesville Road side of Augustaleeproperty, we will move there,” Rector added. “But realistically that is about two years away from being ready for us to move in. Meanwhile we certainly look forward to having our own place to work after many business trips to Charlotte and Cornelius for more than two years.”
Working On Thousands Of Design Details
The Design Team continues to work on the thousands of design details necessary for a project of this size. This includes details of structural and mechanical systems, site design, landscaping, traffic patterns, pedestrian patterns, open spaces, restaurant patios, sidewalks, signage, amenity spaces and much more.
“The project is moving forward well but there are a lot of complex details to work through, to make sure this is the high-quality project we are all counting on,” said Senior Vice President Josh Rector.
