What’s Going On With Augustalee?
This is a question on lots of people’s minds since the Village received rezoning approval from the Town of Cornelius. The Cornelius Bromont team wants to keep its friends, associates and community informed of progress on this important project, so here’s the second in a series of periodic updates. Also, please visit our website to keep up to date on the project or to send us feedback.
Closing on Property – In case you missed our first newsletter, the development team completed the purchase of the 104-acre site from the Cooke family, sports legend Joe Gibbs and other owners. A full press release is available on the news page of our website, http://www.corneliusbromont.com/news.html
Marketing to Tenants – In recent weeks, the development team made its way to Las Vegas for the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) annual convention where potential retail, hospitality, and other tenants were contacted and introduced to the project. Also several members of the design team were present to research what other projects are doing right and wrong, to further refine plans for the design of the Village.

Finalizing The Team – The VLN Design Team is making headway in its design efforts with designers, engineers, architects, and specialists. The Team will continue to work with Bartlett Hartley Mulkey as our architects, with Kimley-Horn as our transportation engineers and civil engineers, and with ColeJenest & Stone as our landscape architects and land planners. Other consultant negotiations are still underway and making progress.
We have also begun the very detailed analysis and planning needed to ensure that architectural drawings for all components of the development will lead to a construction process which will go smoothly, efficiently and effectively, resulting in the high-quality project that we have received approval for from the Town of Cornelius.
New Office Location – The development team plans to locate a temporary office, until their new offices at Augustaleecan be constructed, in the Dilworth-South End area of Charlotte, which will be in close proximity to many of the design team’s offices. Also consuming some of the development team’s minimum spare time is their search for housing in the Cornelius area.
